Come for Supper
15 th - 17 th February 2024
Come for Supper is a banquet of deliciously inedible sculptures, paintings and drawings, all with one focal point, food. Inspired by Bad Art’s Let Them Eat Fake, in London, this exhibition celebrates 15 artists’ work from the Glasgow School of Art.
The exhibition has a lively, warm and playful atmosphere with an emphasis on the joy and exploration. As a first-time curator, I was curious to see the variation of colour, texture and material, and the abundance of flavours, histories and identities that could be brought to the table.
I am interested in the idea of mealtimes; the intimacy of eating and sharing food, the gathering of people and the atmosphere that is created by coming together.
Mealtime, especially supper time, is important to me, my family and flat mates. Whether it is beans on toast or an elaborate concoction of ingredients, it is important to come together at the end of each day to regale the happening of the day around a table. Every supper can be a banquet!
Feast your eyes and try to resist the temptation to eat the artwork! This exhibition may leave you hungry for more.

The opening night of Come for Supper includes a Concert Dessine.́ We are inviting the audience of the exhibition to respond to sound by drawing, the sound is improvised as a response to the work in the exhibition and the atmosphere of the room. Apart from myself playing, the sound-makers are all jazz musicians from the Royal Conservator of Scotland. The vision is to materialise and transfer the atmosphere of the opening night on to the walls of our banquet, leaving remnants of the open dialogue between viewer, musician and artist in the space. The intuitive mark making, and sounds will be embedded into the space, so that the walls might remember how the evening felt!

Come for Supper a snippet of the opening night.
To try and capture the essence of the opening night, I compiled some of the videos I took into a short film.
